We have just purchased a Magnus 800 (CTP Platemaker) as a replacement for our Lotem 800, which although a reliable machine was 11 years old. An update of our equipment was necessary to keep us at the forefront of advancing technology.
The major benefits of the Magnus are speed, reliability and the use of thermal direct plates, eliminating the chemical process. Development of the plates is achieved on press using only water and the machine’s fount solution. This is a major factor as we are always looking at ways we can improve our environmental footprint. Please see our environment and news pages and news for more on how we try to achieve this.
With a separate autoloader unit just being one of the additional features, the plates are handled a lot more efficiently than before also minimising problems. It runs in 6 stages as before the Lotem only ran in 2 which improves the production speed from 8 plates to 20 plates an hour.
The Magnus is technically more advanced than the Lotem, it also has a much more dynamic layout inside ensuring a far smoother operation.
